Athletics Update May 8, 2025
Today's varsity baseball and softball games at home against Hinsdale at 4 p.m. have been postponed because of a school event at Hinsdale. They will be made up at a later date. Instead Newport varsity and baseball will play Sunapee at home today at 4 p.m. Those games were originally scheduled for tomorrow (May 9) at Sunapee, but the weather does not look like it will cooperate and Sunapee's fields are currently not playable.
The Newport JV softball team will host Mt. Royal today at 5:30 p.m.
Varsity track will also participate today in a meet at home hosted by Sunapee at 4:00 p.m.
Unified track will open its season today by hosting Stevens at 3:00 p.m.

Tomorrow's (May 8) JV baseball game at Conant has been postponed because Conant needs to play a varsity game on their field. We will try to make it up on a date to be determined.

Boys Basketball Division III Preliminary Round
No. 7 Newport 66, No. 10 Newfound 46
Newport put together one of its most complete efforts of the season to beat Newfound 66-46 in the Division III preliminary round February 18 at the Wheeler Gym.
The Tigers controlled the game through the first half, taking a 29-20 lead into the break over the tenth-seeded Bears. Seventh-seeded Newport blew the game open with a huge third quarter to take a 54-31 lead heading into the final eight minutes.
Aaron Fellows paced Newport with thirty points, while Christian Forsythe added twenty and Tyson DiPaola eight.
The Tigers will now play at second-seeded Mascoma February 21 at 7:00 PM.
