Happy Tech Tuesday!
This week, we’re taking you inside our Engineering program, where our Level 2 students are beginning to explore the specific disciplines that spark their passion.
Whether they’re designing and constructing weight bearing bridges and building models to test their civil engineering skills, or diving into the world of coding, music production, and video game design, these students are discovering what it means to turn curiosity into career readiness.
It’s hard not to think of the phrase, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life,” when you see the energy and focus in the lab. Our Engineering students bring a unique blend of creativity, logic, and hands on skill that fuels innovation and drives every lesson forward.
Keep up the amazing work, Engineers. Your future is being built one project at a time!

Happy Tech Tuesday!
Last Friday, a large group of our Agriculture students had the chance to compete and practice historic FFA events at the NH Deerfield Fair.
For many, this fair was their very first introduction to competition, while our more seasoned students had the opportunity to showcase their advanced and growing skills. We are thrilled to share that our Floriculture Team earned 1st place overall in their competition and our Forestry Team took home 2nd place in their competition!
We couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and hard work these students have already shown this year. Congratulations to all who competed, you’ve set the bar high, and we can’t wait to see what more you’ll accomplish as the year unfolds!

Happy Tech Tuesday! Calling all future leaders… Now's the time to get involved in a CTSO!
Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are extracurricular groups directly connected to our CTE programs and the industries they support. By joining a CTSO, students can take their learning to the next level through hands-on activities, competitions, conventions, networking, and mentorship opportunities that help develop leadership and real world skills.
At the end of the summer, several of our CTSO student leaders participated in a Leadership Training event, where they collaborated across programs to share ideas, build teamwork, and learn what it takes to run a successful chapter. These pictures capture just a glimpse of their energy and enthusiasm!
Every SRVRTC Newport program has a CTSO You Can Join:
Animal & Plant Science – Future Farmers of America (FFA)
Automotive Technology – SkillsUSA Automotive
Business & Marketing – Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)
Cosmetology – SkillsUSA Cosmetology
Education & Behavioral Science – Educators Rising (ER)
Engineering – Technology Student Association (TSA)
Forestry & Natural Resources – Future Farmers of America (FFA)

Happy Tech Tuesday, Newport! We Need YOUR Expertise.
At the Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center, our mission is to prepare students to enter the workforce with strong skills, a professional work ethic, and industry-recognized credentials. We want to give them a head start equipped with the most up to date tools, techniques, and knowledge in their chosen fields.
That’s where you, our incredible community, come in.
Newport and our surrounding towns are full of industry professionals who know what it takes to succeed. You live it every day on job sites, in shops, salons, classrooms, hospitals, forests, and more. You are the experts. And we’d love for you to share your insight with the next generation of professionals by joining one of our Program Advisory Committees (PACs).
As a PAC member, you’ll meet with a teacher and fellow industry professionals at least twice per year to share what you’re seeing in the field, recommend skills or technologies students should be learning, and help guide program development. It’s a meaningful way to shape the future workforce, connect education with real-world demands, and strengthen our local industries.
If you’d like to get involved or learn more, please reach out to our SRVRTC Admin Assistant, Gregory Osanitsch, at

We kicked off the year in a big way. We held a ribbon cutting ceremony for both our newly renovated Tech Center main building and our new Agriculture Center!
It was a truly special day, and we were honored to have so many key contributors in attendance. From our dedicated staff and members of the Department of Education, to the architects, project donors, and our incredible Program Advisory Committee members we want to thank you all for your support and partnership.
Most importantly, we want to give a HUGE thank you to the entire Newport community. Your continued support whether through donations, collaboration, or simply cheering us on makes everything we do possible. SRVRTC CTE: Riding in Style
Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center (SRVRTC) of Newport has been awarded a Career & Technical Education (CTE) Transportation Aid Grant of $137,500.00 from the New Hampshire Department of Education. The grant has provided SRVRTC Newport with two 15-passenger vans. In addition to the cost of the vans, the grant award also included funding for graphics and identification on the vans. The purpose of the grant was to ensure student access to all aspects of CTE, including students traveling to their designated CTE program location, industry connection, and career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities.
“Having the two vans creates an incredible flexibility for our nine CTE programs. Teachers can better plan career and industry related activities knowing that transportation will not be a barrier. It is truly a game-changer for our school. Our district transportation team is highly responsive to our needs, but it is a challenge to coordinate some trips that require more flexibility to coordinate a last-minute date change or to accept an industry opportunity with short notice” said Eric W. Perry, Newport’s CTE Director.
Perry also stated “once we knew the grant was approved we asked our students to come up with a design that represents the uniqueness of our regional CTE center, and is professionally appealing.” The final design for the vans was created by Business & Marketing Students Carter White (Newport High School) and Malachi Caple (Stevens High School) had the winning design. The two students met with the local vehicle graphics company to finalize the design and make some revisions. As a reward for their winning design, the students were permitted to affix their signatures on the back of the vans. The final installation of the graphics took place on June 4th.
Capel stated “It was good working in collaboration with the guys making it, learning how to compromise was important. We used skills used in our Business & Marketing Program to communicate, market SRVRTC, and negotiate a final design.” White added “The vans will give students a reliable mode of transportation to access learning opportunities without having to worry about how they will get there. It’s one less thing that teachers and students have to worry about, one less obstacle. We’d like to thank SRVRTC’s administration for letting us participate in this amazing opportunity. Both of us [Capel & White] are grateful to have been involved.” For developing the winning design, Capel and White were able to have vinyl reproductions of their signatures placed on the van.
Beyond enhancing opportunities for CTE students and reducing transportation barriers, there is another incredible learning opportunity embedded in the purchase of the vans. The SRVRTC Newport Automotive Technology Program has been appointed the custodian of the vans. This gives Automotive Technology students hands-on experience in fleet management, preventative maintenance, pre and post trip inspections, safety, and general maintenance. “This is a win-win situation for our students,” said Perry.

Yesterday's Career Exploration Day was a big success at Newport High School, Newport Middle School, and SRVRTC Newport!
More than 60 local businesses participated by speaking on a panel, having a table at our Opportunity Fair or presenting about careers in their fields. It gave 6th through 10th grade students a chance to gain insight on what careers are available, which industries they might enjoy the most, and what it takes to be successful.
We would like to thank everyone who partnered with us. We value your time and appreciate your incredible support of Newport students!

Our Health Science Technology II students are currently learning Medical Law & Ethics. This program is also a dual enrollment class with River Valley Community College, this means they're earning High School credit and College credit at the same time. Today, students acted out a scenario as a Physician, an RN, a Hospital Administrator, a patient with a terminal illness, and the patient's family as they discussed end-of-life care and the importance of a Living Will. A Living Will is a legal document that outlines your wishes regarding medical care, to specify treatments you do or do not want.

Happy Tech Tuesday! Our Health Science Technology level 1 students are diving into the amazing world of anatomy, learning about approximately 640 muscles in the human body! To bring their studies to life, they worked on a hands on project to map out these muscles, gaining a deeper understanding of how the body moves and functions. It cool to see them flexing their new knowledge!
