Due to the forecasted inclement weather the scheduled field day for tomorrow (6/13) has been changed to Thursday (6/15).

Emailed to Newport School District Families Friday, June 9, 2023 Bus Transportation Issues for the Week of June 12-15, 2023 Dear Newport School District Families, We would like to inform you of some changes to bus routes next week June 12-15, 2023. We will only have 3 bus drivers during this week due to a driver shortage. Due to this shortage, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to provide transportation for our preschool students during this period. We understand that this may cause inconvenience and we sincerely apologize for any disruption this may cause to your family's routine. To ensure that we can accommodate as many students as possible, we have made the decision to combine bus routes. We will be splitting Bus 10 riders between Bus 4 and Bus 3. All Bus 11 riders will change to Bus 7. Please review to familiarize yourself with any changes that may affect your child's transportation. We understand that this transition may present challenges, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Our dedicated team is working to address the driver shortage. If your 8th Grader is attending the Semi-Formal tonight, Please drop them off and pick them up at the middle school doors. The dance will be in the gym from 6-8pm.

Middle school reminders: *The Grade 8 Semi Formal will be on June 9th. It is being held at NMHS from 6-8. *Field Day will be held on June 13th. *Middle School Awards night will be held on June 13th from 6-8 in the NMHS Gym. This is an invitation only event. Students who are invited received a letter and tickets. There was also an email sent out to the parents of the students receiving awards. *The Grade 8 Moving up ceremony will be held on June 15th from 6-8 in the NMHS Gym. *Tha last day of school is Thursday, June 15th.

There will be a Football Meeting this Friday at 2:45 in the gym for anyone interested in playing this fall. This is open to students in Grades 6-11. Coaches will be there as well.

Message sent to Newport School District Families June 6, 2023 Dear Newport School District Families, We are writing to inform you about a recent staff medical emergency that occurred at Richards Elementary School, which required the implementation of a Shelter in Place protocol. During the incident, emergency responders needed access to the building to provide immediate medical assistance. The Shelter in Place procedure ensured their swift entry without causing any disruptions to the students or staff. When in a Shelter in Place there is no harm to the students or staff. It is a way to keep the hallways clear. In the classroom learning is still continuing. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time, and we remain committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of our school community. Donna, Superintendent

But, due to circumstances out of our control we are having to change how we transport students this upcoming week. We wanted to inform you about an important update regarding our transportation services during the week of June 5th - 9th. Unfortunately, we are currently facing a driver shortage, which has necessitated some changes to our bus routes. We will only have 2 bus drivers during this week. Due to this shortage, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to provide transportation for our preschool students during this period. We understand that this may cause inconvenience and we sincerely apologize for any disruption this may cause to your family's routine. To ensure that we can accommodate as many students as possible, we have made the decision to combine bus routes. Specifically, bus 4 and bus 3 riders will now be merged onto bus 10 and bus 7. CORRECTION: There is an error in the letter that was sent home. The date should read THURSDAY, June 15. All Grade 8 Students were given a letter about the Moving up Ceremony and Semi-Formal. Your tickets to the moving up ceremony are with the letter. If you have unwanted tickets please send them back to school with your student. If your student was absent today, your letter and tickets have been mailed home.
