Graduation Has Been Postponed to Thursday
After having consulted with the National Weather Service, we have postponed graduation to Thursday to avoid the thunderstorms predicted to begin just prior to the graduation ceremony.
Tomorrow, the ceremony will be held at 6:00 PM on the football field (the weather forecast is looking good for tomorrow!).

The Newport School Board will be holding an unscheduled meeting due to a letter received from the Board of Selectmen regarding the Bus Barn, telling us we are expected to vacate the property by June 30 . Please see attached Board Posting/Agenda as well as the Letter from the Board of Selectmen. Please join us this Friday, June 16 at 6:00PM, your voice matters.

Bus Transportation Issues for the Week of June 12-15, 2023
Dear Newport School District Families,
We would like to inform you of some changes to bus routes next week June 12-15, 2023.
We will only have 3 bus drivers during this week due to a driver shortage.
Due to this shortage, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to provide transportation for our preschool students during this period. We understand that this may cause inconvenience and we sincerely apologize for any disruption this may cause to your family's routine.
To ensure that we can accommodate as many students as possible, we have made the decision to combine bus routes. We will be splitting Bus 10 riders between Bus 4 and Bus 3. All Bus 11 riders will change to Bus 7. Please review to familiarize yourself with any changes that may affect your child's transportation.
We understand that this transition may present challenges, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Our dedicated team is working to address the driver shortage.
If you have any questions or concerns about this transportation transition, please reach out to our transportation coordinator, Caleb Godwin. He will be happy to assist you and can be contacted via email at cgodwin@sau43.org or by phone at (603) 454-8448.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this situation. We assure you that we are making every effort to ensure that all students receive transportation to school.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation,
Donna, Superintendent

Message sent to Newport School District Families June 6, 2023
Dear Newport School District Families,
We are writing to inform you about a recent staff medical emergency that occurred at Richards Elementary School, which required the implementation of a Shelter in Place protocol. During the incident, emergency responders needed access to the building to provide immediate medical assistance. The Shelter in Place procedure ensured their swift entry without causing any disruptions to the students or staff.
When in a Shelter in Place there is no harm to the students or staff. It is a way to keep the hallways clear. In the classroom learning is still continuing.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time, and we remain committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of our school community.
Donna, Superintendent

Bus Transportation Issues for Week of June 5th to June 9th
Dear Newport School District Families,
I am very sorry to be sending this letter out on a Saturday. But, due to circumstances out of our control we are having to change how we transport students this upcoming week.
We wanted to inform you about an important update regarding our transportation services during the week of June 5th - 9th. Unfortunately, we are currently facing a driver shortage, which has necessitated some changes to our bus routes. We will only have 2 bus drivers during this week.
Specifically, bus 4 and bus 3 riders will now be merged onto bus 10 and bus 7. We have attached the updated bus route information for your reference. Please review it carefully to familiarize yourself with any changes that may affect your child's transportation.
We understand that this transition may present challenges, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Our dedicated team is working diligently to address the driver shortage and minimize any further inconveniences.
If you have any questions or concerns about this transportation transition, we encourage you to reach out to our transportation coordinator, Caleb Godwin. He can be contacted via email at cgodwin@sau43.org or by phone at (603) 454-8448. Mr. Godwin will be happy to assist you and provide any additional information you may require.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this situation. We assure you that we are making every effort to ensure that all students receive transportation to school. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated as we navigate this challenge together.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
