Dear Richards School Families,
This letter is to inform you that your child may have been exposed to Hand Foot and Mouth disease. HFMD is a common, mild, but contagious virus, and we want to inform you that we are currently experiencing cases at Richards School. The attached information, provided directly by the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, outlines the symptoms and general guidance for families.
We are experiencing a significant increase in Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) cases throughout our building. Both students and staff members have contracted the virus, and we want to ensure you have the information needed to monitor your family's health and help prevent further spread.
Please know that we are taking proactive steps to keep our students and staff healthy. Our team is deep cleaning and blue-lighting all classrooms and throughout the entire building to help prevent further spread. Blue light cleaning uses visible light at specific wavelengths to kill bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms on surfaces by creating reactive oxygen species inside microbial cells, it's safe for continuous use around people.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 603-865-9429
Thank you for your continued support.

Ms. Mosconas' first grade class has been participating in a lemonade stand instructional unit including math and reading skills. As the culmination to this unit, they will have lemonade stands in front of Sugar River Bank and also on the town common on Thursday, May 30 from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. Students voted that all of the money raised will be donated to the Sullivan County Humane Society. So please plan to come by and purchase a cold cup of lemonade! This unit was made possible by a grant from the Newport Rotary Club.
